Blog Spy Preview: Which Blogs Can YOU Outrank?

In this video I preview a brand new tool I’m working on. It’s called Blog Spy.

Remember to vote this video up as it will encourage me to keep writing super cheap SEO software tools!

What does Blog Spy do?

Very simply, you tell Blog Spy your blog address and it will find blogs that are related to your blog.

Why is this Useful?

Blog Spy will colour code the related blogs for you. Green blogs are ranked less highly than your own blog. You should be able to outrank these blogs. Either come up with your own content, or “borrow” ideas from their blog.

Blog Spy will also show you orange colour coded blogs – these have a similar rank to your own.

Finally the big monsters in your niche will be colour coded red. Don’t try competing with these blogs for the same keywords – you won’t win at that game. But you could try really hard to get backlinks from their blogs. Also you should examine their sites closely to see what they’re doing right.

Note: in this review I assume my own blog is Niche Pursuits. Of course it’s Spencer Haw’s site, not mine! Anyway, according to Blog Spy there are plenty of blogs Spencer could potentially outrank if he was to publish similar content to them. Blog Spy also shows people he shouldn’t try to compete with, like Pat Flynn’s gigantically popular Smart Passive Income.

By the way in the video I mentioned the Blog Spy Popularity Score and said that the niche websites niche wasn’t that hard a niche to get ranked in. I’m not sure how true this is but I do have a tonne of Niche Laboratory data to back me up on this!

Thanks for reading (or watching), and please do vote this video up as it will encourage me to keep writing SEO software tools.

Also let me know if you want to see me add any particular features to Blog Spy. I’ll release version 1.0 ASAP – check the Blog Spy home page to see when it’s available.

Well, it is great to see how my website doing in comparison to other sites. But, it is not a smart move to simply copy our competitors. All the data gathered using Blog Spy should be used to create our own strategy. Do you know other techniques of spying and other tools that I can use?

Actually I disagree. Google has made billions from copying other peoples’ content – they create hardly any of their own content.

Also the Chinese creators of TanTan have made a lot of money from essentially cloning Tinder.

There’s BIG, BIG, money to be made by copying stuff.

I think using this as a basis for your content is perfect. Basically, I look at the popular articles jot down notes and save them with Evernote. I then write my own articles and use all of these as the research part. Combining all the articles into one longer one with your own voice will do wonders for ranking. You can also write about any topic even if you aren’t an expert.
